impact.com calls a tracked sale an action. Until the action locks you can reverse it (set the amount to zero) or modify it (a new, lower amount). After the locking date nothing changes: impact says plainly that you cannot modify or reverse actions after they lock.
The locking period is a term in your contract template, not a network-wide default. It can be a number of days (up to 90) or a month-plus-days rule such as 47 days after the end of the month.

Batch modifications and reversals as CSV or XML from impact’s templates, uploaded by FTP/SFTP or email, or sent through the API.2

Questions, answered
What is the difference between a reversal and a modification on impact.com?
A reversal sets the action amount to zero; a modification sets a new amount, for example after a partial refund. Both need a reason code and both must happen before the action locks.
How many rows can one impact.com batch file hold?
impact recommends fewer than 10,000 rows per FTP file, and an action can be modified at most 1,000 times.
Do I need to approve impact.com actions?
Usually not: actions lock automatically under your contract terms. You only act on the ones to reverse or modify.
