Import your impact.com actions

impact.com calls a tracked sale an action. Until it locks you can reverse it — set the amount to zero — or modify it to a lower amount. After that, nothing: "You cannot modify or reverse actions after they lock."¹ The import is how AffCheck sees which actions are still open and what is wrong with them.

Export your actions

1. Open the Actions page under Pending Payouts, where pending actions are listed and where you reverse or modify them before lock.
2. Export the actions for the period you want to check.²

The Action Listing by Locking Date report is the companion worth knowing: it shows what locks when, which is the same question the Deadlines screen answers once the rows are in.²

Import it

Drop the file on the network zone of the Imports screen. The preset looks for impact's own field names — the action or order id, the sale amount, the payout, the action status, the event date and the media partner id. As with every network, the headings have not been confirmed against a real export yet, so AffCheck may ask you once which column is which.

The deadline

impact.com has no network-wide default: the action locking period is a term in each contract template. It can be a number of days, up to 90, or a month-and-days rule such as "0 months and 47 days after the end of the month". Open-ended locking locks automatically after 730 days.³

Because there is no published default, AffCheck leaves impact.com rows undated until you enter your own period on the Deadlines screen. It will not invent a locking date for you.

Reversal or modification

A reversal sets the action amount to zero; a modification sets a new amount. Both need a reason code, and both must happen before the action locks.¹ AffCheck's suggested decline is a reversal and its suggested amend is a modification, with the new amount worked out from the Shopify refund. The batch files impact takes are order-level CSV or XML from its own templates: the action id (or order id plus action tracker id), the new Amount — zero for a reversal — and a required Reason such as ITEM_RETURNED.¹ impact recommends fewer than 10,000 rows per file.

If you run the impact.com Shopify integration

The integration passes item- and order-level refunds and reversals made in Shopify through to impact, which updates the actions.⁴ Single-network refunds are then largely handled, and the import's job is the independent check before the locking date — plus everything one network cannot see, such as the same order claimed on a second network.
